The RECORDS commercial complex wins the Grand Prix at the Chiba City Urban Culture Awards 2023
A commercial complex produced by Takusho Development Co., Ltd.theRECORDS" has now been renamed to [Chiba City Urban Culture Award 2023] won the Grand Prix.
This marks the fourth award that the RECORDS has received, following the Good Design Award, the Japan Space Design Award Silver Award and Sustainable Design Award in the Large-Scale Commercial Space category, and the Renovation of the Year award.
What is the Chiba City Urban Culture Award?
The awards are intended to recognize buildings and other structures that are deemed to contribute to the creation of an excellent urban landscape, thereby raising public awareness of the creation of attractive landscapes that make the most of the characteristics of the region and improving urban culture, thereby contributing to the creation of even more attractive cities.

◆Project Overview
This project renovated a 36-year-old business hotel that had been losing its value despite being within walking distance of Chiba Station, a terminal station, and adjacent to a large urban park, into a complex commercial facility with a new purpose, aiming to "integrate with the park" and "revitalize the area."
◆Architectural points (excerpts)
The existing parking lot and equipment storage area were converted into seating, and large openings (windows) were installed facing the park, creating a building that is closely integrated with the park and the local community.
◆Design points (excerpts)
Although there is diversity on each floor, the architecture, interior design and furniture for each store, signage, landscape design including the rooftop and second floor terrace, and color coordination, all were designed by the same team with a unified tone and manner.
