Chiba Castle Sakura Festival

A local museum built on the ruins of Inohana Castle

The Chiba City Museum of Local History was renovated and reopened in November 2025.
This museum, with its castle-like exterior, is built on the site of the former Sengoku period castle, Inohana Castle, and is affectionately known to local residents as Chiba Castle.
The renovation has resulted in a "general history" exhibition covering the period from primitive and ancient times to the present day.

If you take the elevator from the first floor to the observation space on the fifth floor, you can get a panoramic view of the city and Chiba Port, and on a clear, sunny day, you can even see Mount Fuji and Mount Tsukuba. After that, you can learn about the history of Chiba City through the exhibits on the fourth floor from primitive and ancient times, the third floor from the Middle Ages, and the second floor from the early modern and contemporary times.
The history of the Chiba clan is now even easier to understand than in previous exhibits, and there are many ways to learn more. By scanning QR codes and other information, there are fun learning contents for people of all ages and genders, and there are also photo spots on each floor.

Located within Inohana Park, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot, the Chiba Castle Cherry Blossom Festival is held here in the spring. Why not experience the history of Chiba while enjoying the cherry blossoms?
